This week, I had a day that seemed to deliver WOW! after WOW!
I went to the Titans game. David and I loved to watch NFL football. We’d watch Thursdays, Sundays, and Mondays; nachos were often involved. My friend Vicki has season tickets. She invited me to see the Titans play the Chargers on Sunday. It was fun to be at the stadium and feel the electricity of the crowd. And … the Titans won in overtime!

I was reminded that “Angels are Real.” While walking from the parking lot to the stadium, we passed under a bridge where someone had left this message. It felt like David was with me.

I heard my happy song. As soon as we took our seats, “Life is a Highway” by Rascal Flatts came on the stadium speakers. This song is one I heard so many times during David’s illness. It seemed to play on the radio at just the right times. The last day I heard it was the day David passed away. The lyrics say, “There’s no load I can’t hold. A road so rough, this I know. I’ll be there when the light comes in. Just tell ’em we’re survivors.” It felt like another sign that David was with me.

The breeze came at the right time. Sunday afternoon was warm, and the sun shone directly on us. Occasionally, a breeze would come out of nowhere, cooling us down. We decided it was Vicki’s husband, John, who passed away in February, making sure we were comfortable.

And then it rained. In the fourth quarter, clouds rolled in, and it started to rain. A lot of spectators left, but Vicki and I stayed. Honestly, my instinct would have been to seek shelter, too. But why? It was just rain. I’m so glad we stayed because we witnessed the winning field goal and celebrated with the crowd. Being drenched actually added to the WOW!
What were the WOWs you had this week?
