Weekly WOWs #10

Many of this week’s WOWs could have easily been overlooked. I feel like I’m fine-tuning my WOW! meter. Are you?

I heard a meaningful sound check. A large music festival was held last weekend in my city, and I live near the venue. On Friday afternoon, I opened my window and could hear a band doing a sound check. It was the Black Crowes. David and I saw them in concert many years ago. They were playing “She Talks to Angels.” It gave me goosebumps.

I helped nurse a bird back to health. A pretty yellow bird flew into the window at my dad’s house. He (or she?) lay there stunned for a while. My dad, sister, and I talked to it. Eventually, it was strong enough to fly away. Seeing it go from dazed to okay was heartwarming.

I was interviewed for a podcast. A few weeks ago, Polly Campbell, host of the Simply Said podcast, asked if I’d be on her show to talk about my WOW! Moments project. I hesitantly said yes. I haven’t spoken publicly about losing my husband and was nervous about how it would go. Well, it was a fantastic experience. I’m glad I did it, and I’ll share the link when it goes live.

I saw two friends sharing a hobby. I was out for a walk when I saw two older women sitting across from a fruit stand. At first, I thought they were selling something or looking for signatures for a petition. When I got closer, I realized that they had easels and were painting. I walked over to talk to them and see what they were doing. They were painting an old house that was behind the fruit stand. They told me they were just two friends who enjoyed painting scenery.

What WOW! Moments did you have this week?
