It’s that time again. Time to share the activities that made me say “WOW.” This week, I had plenty of WOW! Moments (so you won’t see me share another cicada.) Let’s get started.
I attended the rodeo parade. I go for a walk every day and on one of those days, I noticed that the police had closed off my downtown. Turns out, the Rodeo Parade was about to start. I grabbed an iced tea and a seat and waited for the festivities. I love to see the floats, horses, bands, and dancers. Vince Neil of Motley Crue was the Grand Marshall. Yee haw!

I found my peeps! (Still at the parade.) Imagine my surprise when the A+ Twirlers came marching down the street. This is a group of senior (as in 50 and up) baton twirlers. If you’ve followed my blog, you know “learn to twirl the baton” is on my list of WOWs. Well, I just found my people. They don’t know it yet, but once I get to the stage where I won’t embarrass myself, I plan to contact them. And, as luck would have it, my friend Vicki recently told me she was a majorette for the first 20 years of her life! Her dad was a band director, and she was a mascot from the time I was two and a half until she twirled for Vanderbilt! WHAATT??? (Do you think she’ll teach me. Hint, hint, Vicki.)

I launched my hopes for the future. My sister invited me to go to a Water Lantern Festival in Nashville. Each person got a water lantern to decorate, and at dusk, we all launched them into the pond at Centennial Park. It was such as inspiring event. Many of the people, including my sister, went on the stage and shared their water lantern stories. I loved it.
What made you say “WOW” this week?
