Weekly WOWs #24

Jul 12, 2024 | 1 comment

Last weekend was the Fourth of July, and holidays often opportunities for WOWs. Especially ones that include fireworks. To be honest, I had forgotten it was the Fourth. (Does that make me un-American?) I didn’t know what I was doing for the long weekend until it was right upon me.

Fortunately, spontaneity and last-minute plans can turn into WOW! Moments.

I enjoyed an intimate “concert.” When you live in Nashville, amazing music is everywhere, including outside my sister’s front door. She invited me to a Fourth of July gathering in her neighborhood where people grabbed a guitar and microphone and sang. Some were even from bands you may have heard of.

I rang the church bell. My city hosts an Art Crawl on the first Friday of the month. I went with my sister and her boyfriend, John. We stopped inside a church to see a group of artists who were showing their wares. On the way out, we noticed the rope that rings the church bell. We joked about ringing the bell, and the woman at the door who had welcomed us in told us to go right ahead!

I encountered Mothra. When I was a kid, a neighbor convinced me Mothra was a real monster that lived near my house. Turns out, she may have been right. While out for my morning walk, I happened upon a moth with a five-inch wingspan. Mothra patiently waited for me to get out my phone and zoom in as close as safely possible. After my wasp incident, I kept my distance.

I found Cheetos Flamin’ Hot eye shadow. My son Chris loves a flaming hot Cheeto. Who knew you could also make your eyes look like the spicy snack. Since I have committed to wearing more eye makeup, I considered grabbing this kit. I decided, though, that my current shades, which are more in the Snyder’s pretzel twist palette, would be fine.

I discovered that my son is my twin. OK, that sounds like soap opera stuff. My daughter-in-law, Mackenzie, tried one of those Facebook apps that applies filters to your profile picture, except it pulled Chris’s face instead of hers. When my sister remarked that he looked like me, I did it, too, and discovered that we are, indeed, twins. I am considering growing a beard.

What were you WOWs from last week?

I don’t see the resemblance in Chris and you but enjoyed reading you Wow Moments. 😊 I went to the Friday dinner. Several people commented that you had not been there. It was a nice evening. I love you! 🙏🏻
